Portuguese Classes for Foreigners in Salvador, Bahia or Online via Google Meet

Learning Portuguese in Brazil is not just about memorizing verbs or expanding vocabulary. It is about entering a living language shaped by history, rhythm, humor, contradiction, and movement. In Salvador, Bahia, this becomes even more evident. The city speaks through its streets, music, markets, beaches, and daily interactions. To learn Portuguese here is to learn how people actually live, negotiate meaning, express affection, and handle conflict.

Our private Portuguese lessons for foreigners are designed for those who want more than textbook knowledge. Classes are available in Salvador, Bahia, or online via Google Meet, allowing students from anywhere in the world to access structured, personalized instruction.

Portuguese for Travelling

Traveling in Brazil can be a transformative experience, but relying only on English often limits authentic interaction. Our Portuguese for travel lessons focus on practical communication:

• Ordering food and understanding menus
• Asking for directions and navigating transportation
• Handling hotels, airports, and informal conversations
• Understanding regional accents and expressions

Beyond survival phrases, we teach how tone, body language, and cultural context shape communication. In Salvador especially, warmth and informality are part of everyday exchanges. Knowing how to greet properly or when to use humor can change your entire experience.

Portuguese for Proficiency Exams

If you are preparing for a proficiency exam, such as the Celpe-Bras, your preparation must go beyond grammar drills. The Celpe-Bras evaluates real communicative competence: how you interpret texts, respond to audio material, and produce coherent written and spoken responses.

Our classes focus on:

• Text interpretation strategies
• Structured writing with clarity and cohesion
• Listening comprehension using authentic materials
• Simulated oral interviews with feedback

We analyze your weaknesses directly. If your challenge is verb agreement, we address it precisely. If coherence or vocabulary range is the issue, we train that specifically. The goal is not to decorate your language, but to make it function effectively.

Portuguese for Those Who Moved to Brazil

Relocating to Brazil requires more than conversational fluency. Bureaucracy, contracts, professional settings, and social codes demand precision.

In these lessons, we work on:

• Formal and informal registers
• Workplace communication
• Understanding Brazilian bureaucracy
• Social integration and cultural nuances

Brazilian Portuguese varies depending on context. The way you speak with friends differs from how you speak to a bank manager or a public official. We practice these distinctions through role-play and real-life scenarios.

Portuguese for Job Interviews

Job interviews require structure, confidence, and clarity. We simulate interviews with common questions used in Brazil, focusing on:

• Professional vocabulary
• Clear and confident answers
• Connectors and discourse markers
• Cultural expectations in professional settings

Understanding how to express competence without sounding arrogant, and confidence without sounding aggressive, is part of the training. Language is inseparable from cultural perception.

Culture as Part of the Language

Portuguese cannot be separated from Brazilian culture. In our lessons, we analyze music, short videos, interviews, and news excerpts. Students work with authentic audio to develop listening skills while also understanding cultural references.

We explore:

• Brazilian music and its linguistic richness
• Regional expressions and slang
• Social dynamics and humor
• Contemporary issues reflected in language

Another specialty of our private lessons is exclusive classes for foreigners who want to learn Portuguese. The classes are focused on everyday situations and supplemented with videos, music, and audio to allow the student to fully develop in the Portuguese language. Exposure to real voices, accents, and contexts builds natural comprehension and confidence.

Personalized Structure

All classes are private and tailored to your goals. Whether you are learning Portuguese for travel, academic purposes, professional growth, or full integration into Brazilian life, the content adapts to you.

The Portuguese lessons are offered in Salvador, Bahia, or online via Google Meet, maintaining the same level of structure, interaction, and feedback. Each session is live, dynamic, and strategically organized according to your needs.

Portuguese is not simply a language to be decoded. It is a system of relationships, gestures, rhythm, and meaning. When you learn it with depth and attention to culture, you do not just translate words. You begin to understand how Brazil thinks, negotiates, and feels.

Meeting the teacher – Mrs. Helena Marques

Meet Helena Marques, the CEO and teacher of Escola Movimento

Helena Marques holds a degree in Journalism from UFRJ and a degree in English from CCAA, as well as a Spanish proficiency certificate with the highest score awarded by UFBA. She earned her Master’s degree in Philosophy from UFRJ. Teaching since 2019, she has focused, from 2021 onward, on developing specific methodologies for private online lessons.

Aware of the importance of creating online classes that are dynamic yet effective, and tailored to each student’s needs, Helena Marques developed her own teaching methodology. Her approach combines practical everyday situations with structured grammar study, allowing students to engage interactively from the very first lesson. The goal is for the student not only to understand the structure of the language, but to become capable of answering questions and communicating effectively about the topics discussed.

This methodology is also taught to the teachers who are part of her school’s faculty. The aim is to transform learning into a practical and engaging experience, strengthening the student’s confidence and ability to use the language authentically.

As the founder of the school, I chose the name Escola Movimento because I believe that learning a language is precisely that: putting yourself into motion. Mental movement. Cultural movement. Inner movement. When you learn a new language, you reorganize the way you think, encounter a different worldview, and discover a version of yourself that had not yet been activated.

Language is not just vocabulary. It is identity in motion.
